November 2014 - Traditional Handicraft Fair

On Saturday November 1st, we organised a Traditional Handicraft Day at the Free Church in Welwyn Garden City. Tables were offered to all VI clubs and other visually impaired people in Hertfordshire. Those that did take tables were the Macular Society Support Group, Letchworth Garden City, Potters Bar Circle for the Blind, Tony Parks, Vicky Taylor and the Hertfordshire Society for the Blind.

The handicrafts included handmade cards, beaded jewellery, handcrafted bags, jams and chutneys, turned wooden gifts, wooden toys, hand-knitted baby clothes and many others. Although the day was poorly supported, £250 was raised for the Hertfordshire Society for the Blind after costs were taken out, so, many thanks to all who did support the event especially all those who came on the day.

September 2014 - Sight and Sound Open Day

The Hertfordshire Society for the Blind and Sight & Sound Technology opened the Community Shop in Waltham Cross High Street on Wednesday 17th September from 10.00am to 3.00pm.

The Mayor and Councillor Bren Perryman of Hoddesdon Town and Rye Park and her consort joined us at 11.00am.  They showed great interest in the charities present and earnestly chatted to the service users who had dropped into the shop for advice and information.

Along with HSB and Sight and Sound Technology who has been providing solutions for visually impaired people for more than 30 year, we were joined by Citizens Advice Bureau, Four Swans Vision, Guide Dogs and Herts Savers.
